Coming To The Gate Theater In 2020/21

THE STORY:
Love Letters" by A.R. Gurney coming mid-November
Love Letters is a unique and imaginative theatre piece which, in the words of the author, “needs no theatre, no lengthy rehearsal, no special set, no memorization of lines, and no commitment from its two actors beyond the night of performance.”
The piece is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.

Stage Acting Studio 2021 Coming this Summer!
Announcing an opportunity to get into stage acting with a series of free sessions designed to inspire and nourish new talent for the emerging opportunities in theatrical performance which are being created in Chiang Mai. Starting in August Chiang Mai Theatrics, in partnership with The Gate Theater Group, will begin offering free stage acting workshops for adults 18 years and up.
Our aim is first, to provide prospective performers with the basic skill set needed to achieve truthful acting on stage. Ultimately, we would like to cast these newly experienced actors in plays and other activities with The Gate Theater and Chiang Mai Theatrics. At the same time, participants will gain valuable experience to use for other casting and performance opportunities that may become available in the future.
Meeting twice a week, this 20 hour workshops will give participants the opportunity to learn the basics of acting technique, explore a bit of character study and dive into some cold scene work. At the end of the workshop there will be an ensemble performance to showcase the work in front of a live audience.
This workshop is perfect for people of all experience levels. You do not need to have prior experience. The Gate Theater Group and Chiang Mai Theatrics have worked with a wide range of artists from professional working actors to people who are just looking to explore their creative energies, meet people, try something new or simply have fun.
There is no commitment here to register and pay for anything, only come in ready to explore the craft of stage acting and hone your ability to commit to spontaneous, believable actions under imaginary circumstances.
